Information about toy safety

Customer Information about safety of our toys
Monument Toys aim is to bring high quality toys into the Cambodian market. High quality includes that the toys have to be safe for children.

We got some questions if toys are from China. Of course they are. Nearly 95 percent of all toys worldwide are produced in China. But Made in China does not mean low quality – although there were some companies who did not follow the rules.

To keep you informed, please read the following statements from the companies.

“Our mission is to restore a balance in the natural world, help reduce global warming, and instill a love for nature and the environment in people's mind through reforestation program.

All PlanToys® begins with clean, natural rubberwood recycled from rubber tress no longer able to produce latex. 3 years before the wood is used, no fertilizer is added so that the wood stays chemical free. Moreover, to stabilize the wood, PlanToys® uses a time consuming chemical-free kiln drying process.

PlanToys® uses non-toxic, water based dyes to add accent colors to products. This color contains no heavy metal elements such as lead, mercury, etc.

PlanToys® uses recycle and recyclable material to minimize our impact on the environment.

PlanToys® uses soy ink & water based ink on printed materials. This ink decomposes faster than regular chemical ink and can be recycled more efficiently.

PlanToys® assembles our products using a proprietary non-formaldehyde glue in place of the traditional toxic wood glue and is E-Zero which means it contains no Formaldehyde emission.”

Our toys and games have been unaffected by the recent lead paint recalls.

As the leaders of Hasbro, and as parents and grandparents ourselves, we would like you to know that Hasbro products have been unaffected by the recent lead paint recalls. Over the past few months, you have probably heard about issues relating to excessive lead paint in some toys. That's why we want to tell you about Hasbro's consistently high safety standards.

All Hasbro products are made to meet or exceed safety standards set by the U.S. government. In fact, our stringent safety procedures have been in place for years at facilities that make Hasbro toys and games, in the United States as well as in China.

At Hasbro, we know that setting high standards is not enough. Companies must ensure that their standards are being adhered to, and we do. We have very robust lead paint testing and inspection procedures in place to ensure that our stringent standards are met. These procedures include:
• comprehensive lead paint testing before paint is applied, during production and before our toys leave the manufacturing facilities
• frequent, unannounced inspections by Hasbro employees and independent auditors at manufacturing facilities.
When you shop for toys, you can be confident that Hasbro brands have gone through the stringent safety procedures mentioned above. More than 6,000 Hasbro employees worldwide share a continued commitment to make the best toys and games possible for all of our children.

At Mattel, we are serious about safety and quality and are very concerned about how consumers use our products. Our product safety policies are based on our core value of protecting our consumers from unforeseen harm. We set global standards on health and safety exposures at or more stringent than legal limits.

Mattel products are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed all applicable safety standards from around the world. Rarely do we receive a safety report regarding a product, since much of the work and care is done during the design and manufacturing stages. But when we do receive a safety report, we have a company wide system in place to immediately respond to the situation.

Contacts are made available on product packaging, or consumers can contact Mattel through any of our international subsidiaries where a particular product is sold. In addition, consumers can make contact 24 hours a day via the company's Consumer Relations Answer Center website.

Mattel applies internal operating procedures designed to meet or exceed compliance with regulations and laws enforced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and similar consumer safety agencies in other countries.

We are continuously enhancing our safety requirement standards, which are based on a combination of U.S. law, international law, U.S. voluntary requirements and international voluntary requirements.

Other factors influencing Mattel's standards include: safety bulletins, consumer complaints, established good safety habits, sound engineering judgment and connotative safety (depicting safe actions in product use and advertising). Mattel has detailed procedures to manage potential product safety hazards in the rare event that a product modification, withdrawal or public recall is necessary to protect our consumers.

Apart from official regulations, we aim to ensure that all LEGO products meet the expectations of quality and safety that consumers can reasonably demand of design, play patterns and foreseeable use.

As a further requirement, the LEGO Group has opted to ensure that its products not only satisfy the standards for plastics used in making toys but also the regulations that govern food packaging - plus meet a series of specific requirements for the properties of the raw materials. The company has a development laboratory for plastics materials and a test laboratory in Denmark.

The LEGO Group uses primarily ABS plastics in the manufacture of its products. This ABS material has been specially developed for our company and is not available to others. This has important consequences: for example, no other manufacturer is able to make products with the same unique clutch power, shine properties and colour stability as LEGO Group products possess. The company's laboratories continuously test our plastics to the extreme in order to improve resistance, for example, to bite marks and scratching.

All LEGO play materials carry the EU CE symbol. The symbol means that the LEGO Group guarantees that the product complies with the European Toy Directive. Products manufactured for the American market must satisfy the Code of Federal Regulation and ASTM standard F963.

The LEGO Group is a member of both TIE (Toy Industries of Europe) and TIA (Toy Industries of America), and chairs the European committee for standardisation of toy safety. Through TIE and the European standardisation committee, CEN, the LEGO Group is actively engaged in defining toy standards which can promote safety in the toy sector.

You can read more about how the LEGO Group works with toy quality and safety in our Sustainability Report.
